Academia / Robotics / STEM
Coached by Jessica Weaver and Mike Weaver, the Moore High School Robotics Team gives students a background in the STEAM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. The team encourages students to develop the skills necessary for engineering related careers including design process, programming, robot building, troubleshooting, the use of Computer Aided Design programs and time management. To succeed, students develop the following traits and achieve the following tasks: Learning to work well in a team and on their own to achieve a given task, developing skills that are vital for STEM related careers, and completing a series of projects and attend competitions. In addition to robotics competitions (both physical and online), the team hosts workshops allowing students to work on skills necessary for the engineering fields, along with doing fundraising and other community service.
All students who are enrolled in Moore High School are welcome to apply to join the team. The team is open to students in grades 9 – 12 and students do not need to have experience in robotics to join the team, though it is recommended that students who have participated in the Moore High School engineering program join the team.
