Panelist Guest / Writer
Lee Killough has been storytelling since the age of four or five, when she began making up her own bedtime stories. At age eleven she became hooked on SF/fantasy and mysteries. She soon began to write her own stories, usually combining the genres. Most of her sixteen novels are SF, supernatural mysteries, or urban fantasies. Current print books include publications by The Leopard’s Daughter, Checking on Culture: An Aid to Building Story Backgrounds, and Ancient Enemy. Seven of her novels have been revised and published as e-books by Books We Love, including new updated/revised editions of the first two Brill/Maxwell future cop novels Doppelganger Gambit and Spider Play. Work on the third, Shadow Maze, is in progress

We all have trouble elucidating our thoughts at times. So how can writers do it for two or three (or more!) main characters and dozens of supporting characters? How can you encourage the reader to hear the voices in your head the same way you do? How do you write for a political view with which you may disagree, or a gender with which you don’t identify?

More than half of our communication occurs through body language, much of which is instinctual rather than conscious. Because of this, non-verbal clues can be hard to recognize and therefore reproduce successfully. This panel discusses techniques to increase your awareness of body language and how to incorporate such descriptions into your fiction.
