Aislinn Burrows

Aislinn Burrows is an old Millennial married to a young Gen-Xer. She stays pretty busy running SoonerCon in Oklahoma City and geeking out with fellow fans. Volunteering is legit fun you guys!

She is the convention chair for SoonerCon and it has been her proud honor to have volunteered on staff with the con since its reboot in 2006. Her fandoms span a large cross section of SF media. She loves playing RPGs and other games when fun is afoot, listening to podcasts, finding music to fall in love with, and she considers herself a Girl Friday type and NPR junkie. Aislinn and her wife Carmen are proud aunties and like to get out the vote. They live with their fur family in a small house filled with books, oddities, art, warmth and joy.

Phillip Grimes

Phillip Grimes is the Director of Marketing and PR for SoonerCon. He has volunteered for SoonerCon since 2011. During this time, he has designed the main line marketing materials, overseen website redesigns, rebuilt the exhibitor hall, artist alley, club space, and gaming schedule and event registration systems, expanded community relations, and heavily contributed to SoonerCon’s sustained growth. Phillip works directly with the social media team, software development teams, programming team, and other creative professionals to make SoonerCon look better and function more efficiently each year.

In his professional life, Phillip has worked in design and marketing since 2005. During this time, he has created content for practically every print production method, worked with over a dozen production houses in the greater Oklahoma City area and developed ads for publications throughout the continental United States.

In addition to running his business, Phillip teaches graphic design classes at Oklahoma City Community College and helps organize events for the Oklahoma City Nerf Club.

Phillip lives in Oklahoma City, with his beautiful wife Peng, his two cats, several free-range goldfish, and a massive collection of Nerf blasters and Nerf blaster accessories.

Shai Fenwick

Shai Fenwick was born in Trinidad and Tobago to two economists who spoke nine languages between them, which is probably why she spent most of her time reading quietly as a child. She has worked in journalism all over. She has served on the board of the Oklahoma Coalition for Reproductive Justice and the steering committee for Take Root Conference on Red State Reproductive Justice. She is a founding board member, and still serves on the board of the Future Society of Central Oklahoma, and is hotel liaison for SoonerCon. She is pursuing her PhD and is a founding partner of Cobalt Prairie Consulting, LLC in Norman. A fierce advocate for education and reproductive justice, Shai is wife to Ben Fenwick, and adoptive mom to many furbabies, plants, and wayward students. Her favorite hobby, in addition to consuming and making stories, gardening, cooking, singing, sewing, and kayaking … is sleeping.

Taylor Burrows

Taylor Burrows is a lifelong geek and friend of fandom. He’s actively involved with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) as a heavy fighter with bardic tendencies, can recite the first chapter of the Hobbit by heart, and has volunteered with SoonerCon ever since his big sister Aislinn first forced him, back in 2006. For his muggle job, he is a firefighter paramedic in Oklahoma City. He and his wife Kasandra have two girls, Lilyth and Athena, a beta fish named Mojo, and a black cat called Nyxie.

Mark Alfred

Mark Alfred is a founding ConComm member of both the original SoonerCon in 1986 and its new incarnation in 2006. He was the first President of the Future Society of Central Oklahoma. He is the reigning Pun King of SoonerCon. Mark is a fountain of (probably useless) facts on Silver Age DC Comics, monster movies, Star Trek: TOS, and the like.

He’s an editor of over a dozen non-fiction books for Jacobs/Brown Press. He also works on Publications for SoonerCon.

Marcia Bull

Marcia “Marci” Bull is the driving force behind SoonerCon’s Art Show, with her daughter Kalynn Loftin. Marci is also one of the artists of the Mind Over Splatter Art Studio. She is co-artist and creative genius behind the design of several previous SoonerCon badges and posters. Her designs and creations span a variety of media including traditional and digital art; sculpting and ceramics; jewelry and costuming; and other disciplines. Marci holds a BA in Fine Art and an ABS in Homeland Security.
