Dara Fogel, Ph.D.

As a kid, Dara watched the original Star Trek with her dad, later going on to attend cons and win costume contests around the southwest. She designed and taught several Star Trek and Matrix themed philosophy courses. The first Queen of the Norman Medieval Fair, Dara is still an active volunteer, and was a founding member of the Arthurian Order of Avalon, the Santa Fe Renaissance Fair, and the Norman Family Theatre. She is the author of the bestselling GrailChase Chronicles Steampunk fiction series, and has written and presented extensively on the philosophy of Steampunk and Holographic Universe theory. Her essay “Life in the Holodeck” was included in Blackwell’s The Ultimate Star Trek and Philosophy. She teaches philosophy, ethics and humanities at two local universities, and is delighted to be returning to SoonerCon for the 5th year in a row.

Jeff Provine

Jeff loves a spooky story and a good comic book. He leads ghost tours at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, and downtown Oklahoma City. His stories of Oklahoma ghosts are collected in Haunted Guthrie, Haunted Norman, Campus Ghosts of Norman, and Haunted Oklahoma City. Jeff serves as the editor for Okie Comics Magazine, a quarterly anthology of comics by Oklahomans about Oklahoma. Jeff’s science fiction and fantasy has been published in numerous anthologies and in long form with his YA Dawn on the Infinity, Steampunk Celestial Voyages, and alternate-history horror Hellfire. Jeff lives in Norman with his wife Courtney and their houseful of zany animals.

Joey "Okie Space Queen" Rodman

Joey Rodman is a writer and science communicator. She s been featured on Okie Geek Podcast; been a visiting educator at Tradeshare/RefuseOKC Summer Camp; led writing workshops for the Metropolitan Library System; and is the municipal liaison for National Novel Writing Month for the greater Oklahoma City area. She leads a citizen science project tracking light pollution in Oklahoma, and always needs more help counting stars.

Christina Stiles

Christina Stiles is a tabletop RPG publisher and freelancer from South Carolina. She writes some fiction, too. She teaches courses about games at Winthrop University.

Steven E. Wedel

Steven E. Wedel began craving literary fame and fortune in high school. Since then he’s had careers as a machinist, journalist, corporate writer, public-relations specialist, and now high-school English teacher. He keeps writing, despite the lack of wealth and notoriety. Wedel has published over 20 books, mostly in the adult horror genre, but he’s also written for the young adult, children, Western, and thriller markets, and has dabbled in other genres using pseudonyms. His non-fiction writing includes how-to articles, literary criticism, and hundreds of articles for print newspapers and online sites.

Wedel earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a lifelong Oklahoman living in Midwest City with his dogs Bubba and Bear. He’d still take the fame and fortune if it comes his way …

Mel. White

Known to her kids as “Indiana Mom,” Dr. Mel. is a scientist, writer, artist, comic-book creator, poet, storyteller, filker, and World of Warcraft player (not necessarily in that order.) She makes use of her degree in Egyptology as an adjunct professor at Richland College, teaching fun ed courses to senior citizens. She is currently continuing the Duncan & Mallory series (originally done with Robert Asprin) with her new coauthor, John DeLaughter. With DeLaughter, she’s co-written and illustrated several projects with John DeLaughter, somof which can be found on Amazon and Smashwords.
